A khadi saree for my Veda Guru

For several months, mom and I have wanted to gift my Veda Guru, Kunda Miss, with a new saree.

Now, with me, my Guru would put her down absolutely,…,  but my mom was her college prof, so she could not say no to my mom.. as my mom was in a “guru sthanam”.

So I gathered details on what guruji would consider acceptable. White Khadi saree, with color border, bought in the Gandhi Jayanti discount sale. She accepts no more than a total of 3 sarees in a whole year.

So we kind of rushed to be fortunate enough to be the first to gift her the saree this year.

It is my considered view that it is a great good fortune to be able to do offer the tiniest present or service to good and pious people. Even a tiny grain will bring us untold good fortunes. Like the story of Kuchela (Sudama) and Sri Krishna, or the squirrel and Sri Rama..

Of course.. my mom and I gained in the bargain too. Mom got a Khadi Silk (Orissa) saree and I got a yellow and red Khadi cotton saree ..

… Note : …  The Karnataka State Govt gives a 30 percent discount for another 10 days I think.. though the UPA govt has washed its hands off it’s share of the subsidies
