Hit the ground running – Skill Needed for Jobs

Due to the high ‘employee turnover’ ie people quitting/getting fired/ companies disappearing/merging etc., there is no time for ‘learning on the job’ which was a highly valued skill some time back.

Now you can get hired if your resume and interview can convince the potential employer that you can hit the ground running.

In addition most employers want to know how hiring you can advance their careers, it does not matter if they pay in peanuts or almonds, everyone wants to know ‘how serious you are’, ‘how committed you are’, and whether you are there for the long haul…

——- This is how the guy on the hiring side of the table talks..

But that is not how I was as a ‘hirer’. I knew exactly what I wanted, what skill was available and who I could convert from what was available into to what I needed to deliver an excellent output.

Thus I was an ‘excellent project manager’, skilled at hiring and training on the job without any loss of time.

At one time, I expanded my team to take up all the free short term resources to do even tiny pieces of tasks and accomplished my project On time and In-Budget since I had only used slack.., that didn’t count. All the people I knew were glad to do their little bit on my project even for no credit or reward, because it was the “fun project”, the “well-managed project”., or the “happening project”.
