A Traditional, strong, dignified, progressive lady : Raagaala pallakilo from subhalekha

Subhalekha was one of K. Viswanath’s movies that I loved very much. It was totally anti-dowry and taken in a light serious, classical and funny way at the same time. Chiranjeevi excels as usual. And so does the rest of the cast. But it is Sumalatha in her traditional Indian lady role, while at the same time standing up for her rights with great dignity, that makes me wish to place her character along with Sita Devi and Rukmini Devi.

I have come to realise that many people hate comparing ordinary everyday heroisms with the heroic deeds of divine characters. But I know how much strength and purity even simple heroism and good deeds require. So even such characters have a spark of divinity.
