Selection is possible only for someone with suitable multiple talents and with accomodating circumstances.
For example, at this age, geography, financial levels – the world championship in skiing is not a selectable goal… and don’t lecture me on what anyone can do if he decides. I hate cliches.
So what I can choose is what I will cook among the vegetables available to me, what I will eat, what I will read, what I will think about and what I will write.
Some people force you to eat their favorites which you hate, and to read their writings/comments/links which you hate. At some point, I can refuse to be forced.
Sorry buddy, I don’t like you cooking, your menu, your writing, your selection of others’s writing. I don’t like your views, I am sorry to say, I have not selected you as my guru and do not wish you to teach me. I have not accepted you as my student and have no desire to correct you. I have not accepted you as my classmate and do not need to discuss with you. If you choose to read my scribbles, that is your choice, not mine. If you choose to publish your scribbles.. you may have your readers.
You willingly read what I write and then you force me to read what you write. Sometimes you send mail after mail and sometimes comment after comment. I can disable comments on my posts and move my email to another account. I need not ever hear from you.
When I keep the door open for breeze – mosquitoes come in. Then I switch on the repellent to keep mosquitoes out. How can I keep out unwelcome words and thoughts that you throw at me? How can I turn my mind away from you? How can I keep you out of my mind and my thoughts?
Sri Venkateswara Swami turned to stone.. is that the only way? To be inaccessible, difficult to reach and to avoid you? Shall I return your words with silence? Shall I delete you from my mind? Will I have to subject you to active rudeness? Do you want me to insult you back?
Now I am free to read what I want. Shall I read the Vedas. Puranas. Philosophy, Relativity? Shall I go for a walk or sing? You see., I am free now. I can do Whatever I Want. I can exercise my choice among my options….
