Yesterday evening we were blessed to receive in our home a 94 year old scholar who is an expert in Sanskrit grammar – Siromani from Kasi!
While answering a question of mine yesterday, regarding the laksya of life, he said that all this yoga, vedas etc are all for us. To make us learn how to withdraw from our wishes – so that we can be happy!
He is an expert in Sanskrit and Telugu and lives in Vyyalikaval. He will be happy to teach any regular dedicated student…
So if you live nearby and have time and now at least one of the above two languages.. plus an interest in this area.. your life is made!!

I am based in Bangalore and am interested in learning Sanskrit primarily for the purpose of understanding scriptures related to the plants/ medicines which our ancestors used to follow. My interest would be also be in Sanskrit Grammar and Logic. I had learnt the language as a part of the schooling. However as you would be well aware everything in India is about scoring the required marks. Later, I did feel that this language needs to be learnt for the purpose of understanding how much we’ve fallen behind our ancients’ mode of thinking. I am looking out for learning from a Guru who if they could teach me at my home (near IISc), it’d be great since I am working. If that’d not be possible, atleast if they are close to BEL road and would be willing to teach me, that’d be fine as well. I do not know Kannada/ Tamil (my mother tongue). Would there be some teacher who could start off in English and then maybe switch over to Sanskrit over a period of time?
