- A teacher must never chase a student : A recent unpleasant experience of mine has been to go to enormous pain to schedule times class convenient to students who never show up and never apologise or inform. For one student it was a whole month of torture before I realised that she didn’t care about the class at all. For a couple of others, it was just a single effort and I just gave up trying or even asking them what the matter was. The worst part is now when a new person comes close and says they are a fan or a student, my heart does not trust them at all. For the fault of the first now all the others, will have lost that trust I would have placed in them. This behaviour has nothing to do with whether the class is free or paid for.
- All Regard May Be Based on False Premises. Some people are friends only when we have power and money and some are friends only when we don’t. When I quit my job and started reading the Ramayanam, I lost a whole bunch of former friends. A set of people who used to show me regard started treating me with contempt. These are the heterodox set. When I started learning the Vedas, the traditional guys have become wary of me. They stopped saying, “what a great job you are doing”, which they said when I was reading the Puranas. They are either a wall of silence on this matter or they want to know, why I want to study the Vedas. These are the self-perceived orthodox/traditional set And once I started reading and writing about the dharmasutras – Dead Silence from all. No comments, No e-mails., and low stats. People don’t love you for your arguments, only for your conclusions if they happen to agree with their own conclusions.
