The BJP was supposed the represent Hindu interests. But it did not.
- The Hindus are NOT interested in moral policing. They would call that the Talibanization of Hinduism.
- Over the past few centuries, with the ManuSmriti being replaced bythe English Hindu Law, Hindus have been legally liberated from caste and gender discrimination.
- Thanks to modern Hindu Gurus taking an enlightened and inclusive approach, the study of the Vedas etc is now available to anyone who wished to make the effort – including mlecchas (foreigners). The Vedas and Upanishads are now publicly and freely available. All the Hindu philosophy is now being retaught on all media.
- Thanks to INSA – ancient Indian (Hindu) science, is being investigated by the modern rishis (professors) and being published in books and journals.
- The Hindus are very keen on preserving the archaeological sites of the pre-historic period. Some of these are being destroyed like the ashmounds of Kupgal - the kishkinda data, a large number are being neglected, a few are being excavated and preserved like Brahmagiri and new evidence is being found like Dhulikatta.
- The Hindus are not sure whether politicisation of Ayodhya is going to help the cause of history, identity, spirituality or what else?
- The Hindus are not sure whether the BJP will help the brahmin toilet cleaners, and impoverished priests.
- Nehru was first and foremost a patriot of India. To criticise him and praise Jinnah, whther to hit Congress or otherwise, would not go down well with most Hindus.
The BJP knows that Hindus require political representation.. just as the Christians have Congress and the Muslims have their own party. But they don’t seem to know, what Hindus need besides the political representation. They don’t appear to know the views and needs of the men and women on the streets — Money, English Education, Equal Opportunity (not Mandal) in education and employment, Clean environment, A decent standard of living… and so forth.
Andhra Pradesh has shown that by spending govt. money on accomodation and stipends for poor people, it can be converted to Christianity.
I think that the next party to represent the Hindus has to show that it can improve their economic situation, education, environment, status etc.
A New Hindu Party is needed and it has to show that it can rescue, protect and represent the Hindus and not exploit, and morally police them. The Plurality and Individual Freedom, that Hinduism has come to mean must be preserved. It is the Last Democratic Religion and is under attack on many fronts, the media, the missionaries, the terrorists and some government organizations.
Else, the Hindus must migrate to Northern Europe, France, Germany and maybe Netherlands. And yet, we are not welcome anywhere. So perhaps Hinduism will flee to Northern Europe even as Hindus are killed, converted, Macaulayed, and otherwise persecuted in Free India.
Perhaps the greatest contribution of the BJP is “Garv Se Kaho Ham Hindu Hain” at a time when so many forces, were and are trying to make us ashamed of it. So even if BJP ends this avatar of itself, we should always be grateful for that Single Important Contribution of the BJP to the Hindu Cause.
