Is there anything as beautiful as a Love Story?

Maybe the story starts ‘once upon a time’ in a faraway land,

With a prince and princess and a dragon of sorts…

Or may be it is set in the present, with a boy-next-door

And his childhood sweet heart in a chai stall and sou rupaiyya ka chutta..

Perhaps the couple are seperated by the 7 seas, or by social or family barriers., 

May be they have to perform acts of bravery like fighting off villains,

Rama and Hanuman fighting Ravana, an album painting on paper from Tamil Nadu, ca 1820.

Or May be they just need that little bit of courage to let each other know.,

Maybe they have to overcome their own ignorance an realise  they are in love and not just friends…

Maybe there is a deadly disease threatening to seperate the pair

Or maybe a misunderstanding created by villains

May be there is a war or a riot going on in the backdrop,

Or Maybe it is a wedding.

Maybe the boy is handsome and the girl is beautiful.

Or may be he is hunchbacked or she is blind…

A million love stories, or should I say billions of them?

And they reach out and touch your heart, across cultures and geographies,

And you wish against wish along with the pair trying to overcome their circumstances 

That they do make it, they do manage to reach each other 

And that they do live happily ever after.

And everytime that happens, in real life or reel life, the onlookers heave a satisfied sigh,

Dab their moist eyes and go back with hope and joy in their hearts.
