They didn’t vote!

An educator who is a hero to many, an industrialist-entrepreneur who employs many and a writer on social matters.

The educator was a bit abashed but the other two were not. Both are self proclaimed thinkers. The writer is also an acclaimed thinker.

I respect them less than before. There was an excellent candidate in their constituency – clean and progressive. They still didn’t vote.

The writer’s view of the world is fossilized between Marx and Einstein. He himself is a 19th century fossil. He knows nothing of Advaita or of relativity. Yet he dubbed me a theist in a sweep statement. BTW, he hates sweep statements and wrong labels! He decides the definition of God. He decides the definition of a theist and he labels me one. Whatever I am, I voted. He did not.

The entrepreneur-industrialist has a low opinion of aged pensioners and stated it in their presence. He has a low opinion of women and stated that in my presence. Whatever we are We voted! He did not!

They upset and angered me yesterday. They are still rankling in my mind. With this I hope to be exorcised of their words and their prejudices.

And they didn’t vote! They did not vote! They did not vote! An old, pensioned, woman, theist, who votes is better than any self-proclaimed thinker who does not!

  1. Sarada!
You are apt at the point! especially last two lines, whatever you or me are! WE VOTED. our cook who cooks in three more houses other than us, voted. I have more respect for her than many housewives in our colony who are busy in the morning because “It’s breakfast time!” afraid to come out of the house till evening because ” It’s too hot a summer for their skin/health” tired in the evening because” No one to accompany them!”
Our cooking lady is better than all these people, because she wanted change in their life, she tried her bit atleast!
