Most Kannada movie goers know Ramesh Aravind, the Kannada movie star.
I actually met him at Vibrations (the IISc fest) sometime after 1981 Sept and before 1986 Nov. ie, when I was doing my B.E. at S.J.C.E. I was generally a star debater except when I plummeted to lowest of the 7 worlds below the earth…. and this was one such occasion.
Ramesh on the other hand was something of a Super-Star even then. He was representing U.V.C.E., and won nearly every event that he contested. (Surprise! Surprise!) The best event of his which EVERYONE went to see was his skit. The Gymkhana outdoor auditorium was full. It was a hilarious skit, a political satire and the audience rolled over in mirth. Everyone was fan from aged prof to teething babies. I swear! We quote some of those jokes even today.

The climax was of course when he talked to me as we were waiting for some event. He was very nice, and very friendly and very modest. I told him that anyone could afford to be modest if they were as talented as he was and he laughed. Still remember his eyes!
Then he became great and I became… well… me. So… that’s why I remember him and wonder if he remembers that he spoke to a pretty (pretty intense?) girl during one Feb, at Vibrations at IISc.
