I have actually plenty of things to do., but I think what I shall do is take a break, from work, from thinking.
I just watched maid in mahattan again.
This time I heard what JLo says to her mother. The confidence in her voice. It is very hard to give children the freedom and trust that they deserve. It is so easy to lecture them in our anxiety.
What they need from us is our blessings. And what we give them is advice based on our lives, our times.
That is why the Mahabharata is so great. Vyasa rarely preaches. He tells a story. We listen to it and we understand what to do and what not to do. It is called the narrative style.
Perhaps in my story telling too, I need to narrate the incidents and not draw out the morals. Morals depend on time and place….
So stories should be told in this style… iti ha asah this is how it happened.
All we have control over is ourselves. And we should have expectations only of ourselves…
