Involved detachment… (1992-93)

Put your heart into what you do,

While you are at it.

Else your whole life will be meaningless.

Only detachment will free you from fear,

And give you the courage,

To speak and search for the truth.

Detachment is from the fruits of your work,

And not from your work.

Detachment fro work could be laziness, tamas.

Be equally detached from sin and virtue.,

From purity and impurity,

From good and bad.

Be detached from your duty also.,

But do it.

Be detached from him you love.,

But love him nevertheless.

Be detached from the pride of serving your parents.,

And from the misery of not serving them enough.

But serve them.

Say it matters not to me,

Whether I have served you or not,

But I will serve you.

It matters not to me,

Whether I succeed or fail,

I work to succeed.

It matters not, whether I do my duty or not,

I will do it.

Call it God, society or system,

There is so much to work for you,

To care for you.

To see that the relay is not lost at your place… do your bit.

It is difficult to see the effects of your good or bad work,

In such an impersonalized living.

All you can have is the tremendous satisfaction of a task well done.

If you love God, think of work as worship.,

If you love society, think of work as duty.

If you love the work you are doing, then work for work’s sake.

If you love to work for a reason or with a purpose.,

Like independence or family, then do that.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

I love intellectual stimulation.

I love philosophy, fine arts and relaxing.

I will do that much work., that is required for self-sustenance, growth and family.

The rest of the time, I will do the things that I do love.

For me doing a job is a duty to myself.

It is what I do to earn a place in society.

A right to live in this human organization.

So that I can do what gives me pleasure.

I will only do what I must… no more.

But I will put my heart in it and do it well.

Do you hear me? Then Respond!
