My father’s great aunt I think, passed way in the nicest way possible.
She served her husband dinner, then she ate her dinner. Then she lay down with her head on the threshold and passed on.
I hope that my end is very peaceful to. I saw a movie in which Sharmila Tagore, lies on her bed, shawl wrapped around her, looking at her childhood photo album. She thinks happy thoughts and memories and and goes to sleep smiling and passes away.
I hope that when my turn comes I am not shunted around hospitals. I would like to be at home or in some spiritual place like Sringeri or in a temple.

After seeing a number of relatives dying of old age, disease etc.. I know how I don’t want my last days to be and how I do want them to be.
A Jain lady on I saw on the news, knew she was going to die of some disease. What she did, was bathe, dress up neatly and sit in a Padmasana, thinking divine thoughts and simple gave up eating and drinking. Her family respected her wishes and her community worshipped her.
That is the way to go, not in a hospital, with tubes and bedpans, exhausting everyone’s physical, financial and emotional resources. This is my choice when my time comes to go around 60 years or so … 16+ – years from now.
