Today I am going to write about truth, information and journals.
I watched a Ben Afleck movie (Man About Town) – his journalling course changes his life. The teacher says that we write journals to discover ourselves. May be it will help improve my fading memory?
Why are some of us so keen on knowing the truth and others so keen on telling us lies. Why do we become so angry when we are decieved?
In the physical world, it is an advantage to know the truth about things. After I found out how my UPS worked I am able to use the same UPS for my computer as well as the lighting and fan. So I saved money.
People used superstition to exploit others and prevented knowledge from reaching women and lower castes/classes. What we believe and know to be true – guides our behaviour and sometimes allows our sanction of others exploitation.
It is important to know the truth in society for self-protection.
That is why a journalist ‘who brings the truth to the people’ is a noble person and respected by people as such, and naturally hated by those who did the lying in the first place.
Today, we don’t believe newpspapers. If you read the account of the same even from a couple of newspapers then you may have a fair idea of what happened with some level of tolerance. But generally we know that the the media is a vehicle for propaganda and not for truth ,, the only question is whether it is the propaganda of the govenrnment or of other powerful or influential people, someone with a vested interest.
And then there are people who think they are telling the truth but who are misled by their sources or their perceptions.
It is hard to get at the truth. In conversations, ego plays a great role with people giving value to themselves or their friends or someone with status.
I have been on the quest for truth all my life. Lies infuriate or weary me depending on the situation, they mislead us and waste the short time available to us on this planet. Once I found out why some people were lying to me, I just gave them what they wanted, so that they would get the hell out of my life and stop wasting my time and therefore my life.
I have always equated a waste of my time and thought with a waste of my life. That is why I hate liars and idiots.
So what did I do today? More cleaning. Cleaned my dad’s room. More organizing. More movie watching. (new Mayabazaar.. it is nice.)
More application of the “truth”.I figured out how to play my old radio using the new computer speakers.. and I am kicked about it. Very pleased indeedy!
I love my technical successes, specially those that improve my life.
